We
dedicate this
website to the memory of the nearly 120 people resting in
Otter Creek cemetery and to
the role
of the cemetery in Tillman County history.
Several of the people who are buried at Otter Creek Cemetery were “First Families” of Oklahoma and settled in
the area when it was still known as “Indian Territory.” They came to southwestern Oklahoma in search of land,
opportunity, and a better life. They were trailblazing pioneers worthy of remembrance.
This website was created and is managed by a team of volunteers who descended from those buried at Otter
Creek Cemetery.
The purpose of this website is to:
- Inspire interest in the lives and heritage of the people buried there. Serve as a repository for information about people buried there.
- Inform and inspire interest in the cemetery and its historical role in the area.
- Provide points of contact for people who are interested in the cemetery and those buried there.
family history, genealogical, and biographical sites. Others with information about the cemetery and the people
buried there are welcome and encouraged to contribute.
Interested persons may contact website team members via the "Contacts" page of this website.
