  Mrs. Etta Ermon Bowles, a former Waurika resident, died December 30 in an Oklahoma City
  hospital. Funeral services were conducted January 2 from the First Methodist Church in
  Snyder and interment was in the family plot of the Otter Creek cemetery near Snyder.

  She was born November 25, 1886, at Albany, Kentucky, and on December 3, 1903, she was
  married to David M. Shelley. Soon after their marriage they settled at Whitewright, Texas,
  and later moved to Oklahoma where they settled near Snyder. Six children, four of whom
  survive, were born to this union.

  Shelley died in 1925 and in 1931 Mrs. Bowles married the Rev. H. H. Bowles of Waurika. A
  devout Christian, Mrs. Bowles helped her husband in carrying out the work of the ministry.
  She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Waurika and was very active in all
  phases of church work as long as her health permitted. She was a Sunday school teacher  
  since 1910.

  Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Fay Beard of Frederick, Mrs. W. A. Blakeburn of Oklahoma
  City and Mrs. E. W. Groth of Dallas; one son, Clyde D. Shelley of Salem, Illinois; nine
  grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
